First Day!

Today (Wednesday 10th May 2023) was a bit of a momentous occasion… my first full day working at my bench in my beautiful Eco-Studio!!

It feels like it’s taken forever, but after having to spend the last four and a half months working temporarily from my partners office (there’s an earlier blog all about why this was the case if you want to read it), I’m now “home”…in my off grid Eco-Studio, with no extortionate rent to pay and no bullying landlords to put up with!

There’s still a lot to do(as you can see from the above photo!), and I’m sure it’s going to be an ongoing project, but the main thing is, Anna Fine Jewellery and The Studio Jewellery School now have a beautiful and permanent new “eco” home.

All the power for my studio, comes from a big (actually its not that big, but it’s VERY heavy) battery/power station form EcoFlow. I’m charging it up from grid electricity for the first couple of weeks in order to monitor what I’m using so that I can get the right solar array to then switch to being powered completed by the sun!

I worked from 9 - 4.30ish today and at the end of this, the battery was still on 70% charge! It’s obviously only day 1, but I did have the lights on, and did some laser welding, used my setting burrs and hammer as well as my polishing motor, so it’s all looking good.
