What if Meta Disappeared? (and some finished jewellery)
I’ve been thinking a lot about my social media accounts recently, and I know I’ve written before about this, but something happened this morning that made me want to just get on and start using my own website, where I’m in control of everything.
I read a post from another “insta-creative” saying that they’d been told that their account was going to be shut down due to a violation. It obviously turned out to be a scam, but what if on another occasion it wasn’t? What if your account is hacked and you can’t get it back? I know this has happened to others. I’ve also had issues in the past where my account was locked for a week as the algorithm decided that me thanking everyone for their nice comments was spam!
I usually write my social media posts first thing in the morning, in bed with a cup of tea, but to be honest I’m not sure that’s entirely healthy anyway, so it’s time to make some changes…
My own website blog doesn’t get many views at the moment, but hopefully if I keep talking to myself for long enough, maybe eventually a few more people might start listening? Who knows, they might even start leaving comments on my blog! I know this is partly down to the fact that I don’t tell anyone I’ve written them, so from now on, I plan to use my mailing list to send out a once/maybe twice a week blog. I also use my mailing list to let my subscribers know when I can next take on new commissions, so if you’re not interested in reading my waffle, please feel free to either just delete the emails, or get in touch and I’ll move you onto my “commission notifications only” list.
I’m not leaving the socials. I will still be posting there too, but there’ll probably be shorter descriptions and perhaps not a new one “every” day.
So,after all that, I think it’s time to show you some actual jewellery…
Last week I finished off three commissions and a website wedding ring order. I don’t usually work on four pieces all at once (its usually 2, or 3 at the most), but with waiting for hallmarking, it just happens sometimes. There’re (as usual) all remodelled from my client’s old and sentimental jewellery and are now “re-made” into a form that’ll hopefully be loved and enjoyed again. Here’s some before and after photos…
