Commission Terms and Conditions

All jewellery left with me is done so at the client’s own risk. Whilst in my care, your jewellery will be kept as secure as possible in my safe, but it will be assumed that you have your own insurance in place to cover the cost of replacement in case of a fire or break in to my studio.

If your commission involves the removal of gemstones, this will always be done with the utmost of care. However, Very occasionally, a stone may be cracked or damaged and is only being held together by the setting. I cannot be responsible for any damage or inclusions that are not visible whilst the stone is in it’s setting.

I will not routinely test already hallmarked metal and will sometimes suggest adding a small amount of higher carat gold, especially to 9ct gold to ensure that the quality will pass assay when your new piece goes to be hallmarked. For un-hallmarked gold, I can do an acid test, but this is not 100% accurate and cannot guarantee that the metal purity will be high enough to be hallmarked as gold.

I have a electronic gemstone tester that can suggest if a stone may be either diamond, ruby or sapphire, but again this is not always 100% accurate and should not be relied upon entirely. The jewellery I make is about the sentimental and aesthetic values in a piece, and not the monetary value of the materials, therefore I won’t assume that a stone shouldn’t be used if it does not test as genuine.

Commission lead times are always an estimate as creating art sometimes can take longer than first anticipated. If you have a deadline that I need to work to, please check with me that this is achievable before paying for drawings.
