Socials or Blogging?

Hi lovely blog readers (I think there might be at least one or two of you?). If you read my socials this morning, you’ll have seen that I’ve been having a bit of a think about the way I post. I always seen to get way more “reach” with work in progress videos than photos of finished pieces, so I think I’m going to try out sharing my finished work more on here.

I don’t want these blogs to take me ages to write, so please excuse the occasional typo, and I’m just going to see how it goes. Instagram doesn’t like links, so I’ll probably be mostly sharing them Bluesky, which if you didn’t know, is a bit like Twitter, but with less Trump supporting billionaires running it!

But where to start from? Well, I’ve decided to begin sharing the pieces that I’ve finished after moving into my Eco Studio 18 months ago. I’ve just worked out that I made/sold around 80 pieces of jewellery last year, so there will be plenty of content to write about!

This ring was commissioned after my client was given a selection of family jewellery. It was mostly gold, but she liked wearing chunky silver jewellery. We discussed a few ideas for different types of jewellery before deciding on a wide silver band that used the yellow gold, mainly on the inside, with just a “hint” of it on the outside.

I actually have this ring back with me at the moment as the old emerald hasn’t withstood being worn all the time for a year and a half. Emeralds are beautiful, but brittle stones, so do need to be treated with care especially in a ring. So, I’m going to replace it with a fully traceable green sapphire, that’ll hopefully be a little more bomb proof!
