September Update…

I thought it was about time I wrote something new on my blog as I’ve been a bit quiet on here since July. The summer always seems to be so short, and as I look out onto a very rainy September morning, it really feels like Autumn is starting to settle in.

I’m just looking back through my calendar and photos though and actually quite a lot has gone on over the last couple of months. I guess the biggie is the fact that we have a new government, and hopefully we’ll now start to see some of the changes that need to happen to not only sort out the mess that the last lot of left the country in, but also to bring in the green policies that are so desperately needed to look after this beautiful big chunk of rock that we all live on.

Jewellery wise, there’s been the FarOpen Art Trail, where I was joined by the lovely Beca Beeby and Sarah Christian. Visitor numbers were OK, and probably similar to last year, but it’s clear that the cost of living crisis is now hitting even more people as sales were definitely down on last year. I guess this might also be down to my change of business model, as I currently don’t have a “made to order” section live on my website while my new “shop with a difference” is in progress.

There’s also been a networking event for the Gloucestershire business awards, lots of workshops and working on commissions, exhibiting for Herefordshire Art week at The Lion Ballroom in Leominster, and the B Corp Festival in Oxford.

Outside of work, because we all need an escape, and something completely different to whatever our day job is, I’ve started playing some music again with the Widders Border Morris, who are a crazy but very lovely bunch of people.

Right, I’d given myself half an hour to write this, and I’m about to tip over that, so I’d better find a few photos to make this look a a bit prettier, and get on with the rest of today’s admin. Hopefully I’ll also get a bit of bench time later too though.
